In Memoriam: Scott T. Sampsel

Loyal Order of the 704 Member

The Loyal Order of the 704 notes with sadness the passing of Scott T. Sampsel, a longtime member of our community of veteran cable television and broadband technical professionals, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Scott’s career spanned more than 35 years in the industry. He started as an Applications/Field Engineer at C-Cor Electronics (1989–1993), continued as Regional Account Manager at ARRIS (1994–2003), and later served as Co-Owner and Engineering Project Manager at Interactive Broadband Technical Services. He held Northeast Regional Sales Manager roles with International Manufacturing Corporation (acquired by Belden) and Regional Sales Manager at NTDI Broadband, followed by Senior Project Manager positions at Advanced Fiber Works and, from 2016, at BIAC Broadband in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania.

In his later years he focused on Outside Plant project management, optical fiber network deployments, Ethernet/broadband solutions, and ensuring reliable network performance for clients. He graduated from the New England Institute of Technology with an A.S. in Electronic Systems Engineering Technology.

As a member of the Loyal Order of the 704—the social and professional network for veteran cable technical operations personnel, named for the legendary Jerrold 704 Field Strength Meter—Scott stood among those who helped build and maintain the broadband infrastructure that underpins modern connectivity. The Order, founded in 1994, continues its mission of connecting industry pioneers, supporting educational scholarships, and preserving the legacy of the technical professionals who shaped the cable and broadband eras. Scott’s decades of field, engineering, sales, and project leadership work exemplify the practical expertise and longevity our community values.

We extend our condolences to Scott’s family, friends, and colleagues in the industry, including his wife Mary. His contributions to cable and broadband technical operations will be remembered.
